Mission of Economic Development Board
The Valley Center Economic Development Board was established in 2011 by official city ordinance (Ordinance No. 1224-11) and amended to change the composition of the Board in 2020 (Ordinance No. 1339-20). The mission of the Economic Development Board is to promote, stimulate, develop and improve the general economic welfare of the city and its environs, including but not limited to making recommendations to the Valley Center City Council on development projects for which city incentives are requested, proposing changes to policies and procedures governing economic development activities, and advocating for programs and activities that will improve the city’s economic conditions.
The board is advisory in nature and makes its suggestions and recommendations to the Valley Center City Council through the City Administrator or his/her designee. Board members are appointed by the Valley Center City Council and serve two year terms.
