Boil Advisory Update 9/18

The City of Valley Center remains under a boil water advisory. As a City of Wichita wholesale water customer, KDHE has advised that Wichita must first lift its boil water advisory before Valley Center can complete the required testing and verification to lift ours. Wichita lifted their Advisory around 5:30 pm on September 17th. Based on the process, Valley Center will now deliver water samples on Friday September 18th. Testing cannot occur until 24 hours after samples have been taken. Saturday, September 19th is currently the earliest likely date Valley Center's boil water advisory can be lifted. Please continue to follow boil advisory precautions until further notice:

  • If your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting the water run until it clears.
  • Boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation or use bottled water.
  • Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic ice maker.
  • Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.

  • Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing so that water is not ingested. People with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians.
